For those who’ve never had to sit/suffer through 8-tracks, there typically is no fast-forward or rewind.  You listen to the entire album from front to back.  Some of the later players had the ability to jump to a next track but it was all analog and made lots of loud clunking noises…no joke.  With that being said, if the best track was the first, you would play it, then jump to the last.  Sit through the last track, and wait for the cartridge to “flip” over and play the first track again.  Man, there were a lot of carts that I did that on.

Anyway, one of my most favorite tracks by Ole’ Charlie was the title of this post.  Even at a young age, I could tell this song epitomized my dad, so I felt a kinship to it.

Happy Birthday, Pops.

Today would have been 59 for you.

Love you, miss you.
